Sump pumps are designed to collect surface and ground water and pump it away from a home’s foundation. Sump pump discharge lines must terminate a minimum of ten feet (10’) from the side and rear property lines and must be directed to the rear yard swale to prevent damage to neighboring properties.

The Village encourages home owners to connect their sump pump discharge lines into Village storm sewers and storm structures when possible. The Village will assist homeowners in determining if a sump pump connection is possible at their location. Field survey work may be required in some cases.
