The Village of Elk Grove Village is run by the Council-Manager form of government. This form of municipal government combines the strong political leadership of elected officials (Mayor and Board of Trustees) with the strong administrative experience of the Village Manager. 

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) – Mayor who is elected at large for a four (4) year term.

Legislative Body – Village Board of Trustees – Six (6) trustees elected for four (4) year term overlapping terms. 

Village Clerk - The Village Clerk is an appointed official, responsible for keeping all Official Village Records. The Village Clerk's Office also handles voter registration and Village elections. 

Chief Administrative Officer - Villager Manager is a professional administrator appointed by the Mayor and Board of Trustees to direct daily operations of the Village. The Village Manager is responsible for preparation and presentation of the budget and has full authority over all Village Departments.
