Overnight parking is not permitted between 2:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. If you have a temporary need to park your vehicle on the street overnight, you can request overnight parking permission by submitting a request online through Elkgrove.org/OvernightParking or by calling the Elk Grove Village Police Information Center at (847) 357-4100. 

Street parking is prohibited after 2" of snow or when 2” is projected to fall for efficient snow removal and salting.

Soliciting door-to-door is permitted between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. No soliciting is permitted on Sundays or legal holidays. All solicitors are required to register with the Village. Background investigations are conducted on each applicant. Each solicitor is issued a photo ID badge which must be displayed at all times while soliciting in the Village. This registration does not guarantee the character, methods, or product of the solicitor.

The Village Clerk’s Office posts photos of all solicitors that are actively registered on the Solicitor Page. If a solicitor is overly aggressive to the point of being a nuisance, please call the Police Department at 847-357-4100 or 9-1-1.

A building permit is required for all construction.  Please check with the Department of Community Development at 847-357-4220 before undertaking any contract for new construction, home improvements, or the installation of a swimming pool or fence. Burning of leaves and trash is prohibited. 

Lawns must be groomed regularly. Grass and weeds in excess of 6" are in violation of Village ordinances. Residents in violation may be ticketed or lawns will be cut at the owners’ expense.

Vehicles must be parked on an approved concrete or asphalt surface.  Parking on the lawn is prohibited.  Parking or storage of inoperable vehicles is prohibited. Parking of specific recreation vehicles, such as tow type vehicles and boats, is also restricted.

Certain encroachments upon Village parkways are prohibited. The parkway is the area located between the sidewalk and the street. Please contact the Department of Community Development at 847-357-4220 if you have any questions.

Most signs posted in the Village are regulated by the Village and require permits.  Signs are not permitted on parkways, street lights, telephone poles, or in any other public rights-of-way.

All structures in the Village must be maintained according to the provisions of the housing maintenance code.  Residential buildings are regularly inspected by the Housing Maintenance Inspector.
