East of Arlington Heights Rd and south of Cosman Rd runs the Salt Creek River, a tributary of the Des Plaines River. Periodic flooding occurs along the watershed of the Salt Creek River as water levels rise after major storms. Flood prevention is necessary to mitigate the effects of flooding in the Village.
