Elk Grove Village is a member of the Northwest Central Dispatch System (NWCDS), a consolidated emergency dispatch system, serving multiple northwest suburban police and fire departments in suburban Cook County.

9-1-1 is the number to call when you need police, fire or ambulance assistance. These situations can include:

  • To get help for someone who is hurt.
  • If you smell smoke or see fire.
  • To report damage to property or a crime.

If you are not sure if you should call 9-1-1, do not hesitate. Many non-emergency calls are also handled by NWCDS. Emergency telecommunicators are there to help in any way they can and are happy to connect you to the proper non-emergency number if necessary.
