The Elk Grove Village Police Department offers a wide variety of youth programs to the community:

  • Kindergarten - Officer Friendly visits classes and discusses what to do in cases of emergency
  • 1st Grade - Stranger Awareness discussion/Personal Safety
  • 2nd Grade - Drugs: Helpful or Harmful?
  • 3rd Grade - Learning To Say No
  • 4th Grade - Dealing With Angry Feelings/Avoiding Gangs
  • 5th Grade - Internet safety/Handling Conflicts
  • 6th Grade - D.A.R.E. has been taught in the Elk Grove schools since the mid 1980s. Specially trained Elk Grove Police Officers teach this 10 week course to 6th graders. So far, over 10,000 Elk Grove students have graduated from this program. The program emphasizes building self-esteem, consequences of behavior, and methods to resist temptations to use drugs.
  • Youth Police Academy - this program gives local youth the opportunity explore the job of an officer.
