Project Updates

June 28, 2024: This week, the contractor finished filling in the existing abandoned storm sewer in the rear yards with lightweight flowable fill. This product will fill the voids in the old pipe, then will harden to provide structural stability. Once the work required to abandon the old storm sewer is complete, final restoration work will commence.

June 7, 2024: This week, the contractor continued installing pipe in the easement along the WGN property and reshaping the Roundtree Commons storm water basin. They also graded the outfall to allow the water to better reach the surrounding wetland. Next week, work will continue on the basin as well as the installation of storm laterals and inlets in adjacent residential properties.

May 24, 2024: This week, the contractor began installing pipe in the easement along the WGN property. Work also began reshaping the Roundtree Commons storm water basin. Next week, work will continue on the basin as well as the installation of the new storm sewer and manholes.

May 17, 2024: This week, the contractor installed the construction entrance on the north side of Biesterfield Road, just west of West Glenn Trail. Tree removal and erosion control measures also began for the project. Next week, construction fence erection and pipe installation will begin.

May 10, 2024: Next week, work will begin on the Biesterfield Road Basin Outfall Improvements project. This project will replace the aging large diameter corrugated metal arch piped storm sewer that runs in the rear yards of residences along Oregon Trail, New Mexico Trail and Court and Oklahoma Way.  The new storm sewer will be placed on WGN’s property, running between the western security fence and JAWA’s 60” water main, which in the primary water source for the west side of the Village, as well as Schaumburg and other surrounding communities.  The Roundtree Commons stormwater basin will be improved as part of the project.

The contractor will begin by mobilizing in equipment and material off of the north side of Biesterfield Road, just west of West Glenn Trail. This construction entrance will close the sidewalk at this location and daily lane closures can be expected. The contractor may also begin tree removal and clearing as well as installation of construction and silt fence.
