The scope of this IDOT project includes an additional right turn lane on the northbound exit ramp to Biesterfield Road, bridge deck overlay on both ramps, traffic signal modernization, median modifications, and pavement markings. As a result, the proposed northbound exit ramp will be widened resulting in one left-turn lane and two right-turn lanes.

Construction Updates

October 3, 2022: The contractor completed the installation of temporary traffic signals, median removal and replacement, drainage structure adjustments, and pavement widening on Biesterfield Road over the last two months. The State and the contractor have determined that due to material shortages, the ramp widening and bridge repair work will be delayed until spring 2023. Miscellaneous grading and landscaping will occur this fall under temporary daytime lane closures. Temporary traffic signals and traffic control devices will remain in place through the winter.

July 20, 2022: The contractor is installing the temporary traffic signals this week. Traffic staging work on Biesterfield Road and the I-290 EB/NB entrance and exit ramps is anticipated in August which includes narrow lanes and temporary daytime lane closures.
