Project Description
This summer, the Village is constructing a multi-use path along Oakton Street from Bonnie Lane to Cross Avenue. The improvements will include new ADA facilities and the installation of Accessible Pedestrian Signals (APS).
Project Updates
September 22, 2023: This week, the contractor was provided the punch list items that need to be corrected prior to finalizing out the project. Next week, the contractor will be working on the punch list items.
September 15, 2023: The contractor finished the final restoration of sod installation and erosion control removal this week. Next week, the contractor will be working on the final punch list items. The contractor expects the project to be completed shortly after.
September 8, 2023: This week, the contractor transferred maintenance of traffic signals back to the Elk Grove Village and completed the irrigation repairs. Next week, the contractor will start final restoration by installing sod and removing the existing silt fence.
September 1, 2023: This week, the contractor installed the APS system at Lively Blvd. & Oakton St. and is solving some issues they are having with irrigation repair. Next week, those two items should be completed.
August 25, 2023: This week, the contractor worked on fixing some irrigation systems that were damaged during construction. The contractor has to wait until September to complete the remaining landscaping.
August 18, 2023: This week, the contractor installed the culvert extension and flared end section north of Oakton Street west of Lively Boulevard. The contractor also added pavement striping and prepared for landscaping by backfilling and grading areas adjacent to the new side path. Next week, the contractor will continue landscaping prep as landscaping cannot be completed until September due to climate restrictions. August is too hot and dry for sod to be installed successfully.
August 11, 2023: This week, the contractor did pavement patching on the radii (corners) at the intersection of Oakton Street and Lively Boulevard. The contractor also poured the ADA walkway and remaining drive aprons. Next week, the contractor will be adding pavement striping and will prepare the area for restoration.
August 4, 2023: This week, the contractor worked on hand hold adjustments and framing for the sidewalk at the intersection of Lively Boulevard and Oakton Street and poured some concrete aprons. Next week, the contractor will be doing the patching on the radii (corners) at the intersection of Oakton Street and Lively Boulevard. Additionally, the contractor will pour the ADA walk.
July 28, 2023: This week, the contractor poured the main sections of the concrete side path, as well as portions of the concrete curb and gutter. Next week, the contractor will be completing the sidewalk at the intersection of Lively Blvd. and Oakton St. and installing the audible pedestrian signals.
July 21, 2023: This week, the contractor completed the removals for the side path. Next week, the contractor will be placing stone and pouring the curb and the side path.
July 14, 2023: This week, the contractor installed soil sediment and erosion control along Oakton Street from Bonnie Lane to Crossen Avenue. Due to the rain this week, the contractor will start next week with earth excavation and removals for the new multiuse path.
July 7, 2023: The contractor placed electronic message boards on Oakton Street to inform the public of the construction project that will be starting next week, between Bonnie Lane and Crossen Lane. Next week, the contractor will begin earth excavation and removals for the new multiuse path.
