Project Description

This spring, the Village is constructing a monopole on Tonne Rd. just South of Pratt Blvd.  Cell phone providers currently rent space on the Pratt Street water tower scheduled for demolition this fall.  This project includes moving the cell vendor's equipment from the old water tower to the new monopole and installing new huts, decorative fencing, and landscaping.

Project Updates

October 27, 2023: The Verizon shelter and equipment have been completed. The T-Mobile and Elk Grove Village shelters are being constructed and are scheduled for completion next week. 

October 13, 2023: Verizon’s contractor has been installing the shelter and equipment for Verizon. They are expecting to be completed next week. Once the Verizon shelter is completed, work on the T-Mobile shelter will begin. ComEd is scheduled to deliver power to the sight at the end of the month.

September 15, 2023: Over the last few weeks, the contractor finished installing the concrete stoops and decorative fence pillars. Next week, the contractor plans to finish installing conduit for the Nicor and ComEd services.  

July 21, 2023: This week, the monopole and antenna platforms were installed. The grounding rings were also completed. Next week, construction on the Verizon equipment shelter will begin.

June 30, 2023: This week, underground conduit installation continued. Electric and fiber optic junction boxes were installed on the H-Frame. The curb was also cut for the new driveway to the site. Lastly, gas lines were run from the proposed Nicor meter to each of the lease areas. Next week, electric cables may be installed, pending coordination with ComEd.

June 16, 2023: This week, a majority of the underground conduit was installed for fiber optic lines to the carriers including stubs for T-Mobile and Evergent. Additionally, grounding lines were run and the foundations were backfilled. Next week, conduit will be continued and stubbed for Verizon and other utility work will be completed after coordination with ComEd and Nicor is finalized.

June 9, 2023: This week, the contractor poured the T-Mobile and E-Vergent shelter foundation walls, fence pillar foundations, and began excavating for the utility installations. Next week, they plan to continue the utility installations and install the grounding rings.
