The Village of Elk Grove provides access to public records as required by the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140/1 et seq., as amended). The Illinois Freedom of Information Act is the principal Illinois law governing access to public records to ensure that people should be able to access public records and information from the workings of government.
You can submit an online FOIA Request through the portal at www.elkgrove.org which is the quickest way to get information processed. The portal also allows you to check on the status of your FOIA request.
You can send a written request by email at foia@elkgrove.org or you can mail, fax or hand deliver in person to the appropriate FOIA Officer.
Paper form for Public Records for fax, mail or email purposes
In accordance with the law, the Village of Elk Grove Village will respond to all non-commercial requests in five (5) business days and Commercial requests in twenty-one (21) business days upon receipt. (Working day as defined by Village Resolution No. 63-09).
Fees:
If the information is stored electronically, it can be sent to you at no cost. If paper copies are provided, the first fifty (50) pages of standard black & white copies are provided at no charge.
Black & White copies after the first 50 pages are $0.15/page. Additional reasonable charges may apply for other documents.
