The Crime Prevention Section is part of the Support Services Division. The Youth Investigations Sergeant is responsible for the daily supervision of the crime prevention officer. The Crime Prevention Section is committed to establishing positive community relations through development, implementation, and perpetuation of comprehensive proactive crime prevention programs. The Crime Prevention Officers have received certified training in current crime prevention techniques and methodology.

Crime prevention officers hold memberships in the Illinois Crime Prevention Association (ICPA) and the DARE Officers Association. The Crime Prevention Section maintains an active role in community interest groups and civic organizations with an emphasis on the positive exchange of police and citizen concerns. Some of these groups and organizations include the Elk Grove Chamber of Commerce, Community Character Coalition of Elk Grove, Lions Club, Rotary Club, Elk Grove Village Youth Committee, VFW, Senior Citizen's Clubs and the local EGTV Channel 6.
