The Elk Grove Village Police Department offers Project H.E.L.P. (Help Each Lost Person) program. 

The purposes of this program are to:

  • Help the Elk Grove Village Police Department identify persons they find who are wandering or mentally confused and are not carrying any identification.
  • Return wandering persons home as quickly and safely as possible.
  • Help reduce the amount of time police spend trying to locate responsible relatives.

To participate in the program and register at risk family members, the following information is obtained on the client, if possible:

  1. Name, address, and home phone number,
  2. Date of birth,
  3. Responsible relatives and their names, addresses, home and work phone numbers,
  4. Diagnosis,
  5. Medications precautions,
  6. Physical description of client, ,
  7. A picture of the person (if possible).

Many of the people that are part of the Project Help program have Alzheimer's Disease or other severe neurological impairments.
